In Episode 37, I pull the Rambler down to Franklin to hang out with Ashley Gorley for a bit. A few days before I interviewed Gorley, he landed his 39th #1! It was fun to hear a bit of what all it takes to be a very successful song writer as well as keep a balanced family life.

Ashley Gorley is an American songwriter, publisher, and producer from Danville, Kentucky, who is based in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gorley is an undeniable force. 6-Time ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year winner (’09,’14,’15,’16,’17,’18) has 39 #1 singles (as of March 2019) to his name and has over three hundred songs recorded by well-known artists such as Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker,  Trace Adkins, to name a few.

He was 3-Time NSAI Songwriter of the Year (’14, ’16, ’17). 12-time CMA Triple Play award winner. 3-time Billboard #1 Country Songwriter of the Year (’13, ’16, ’17), 12-Time CMA Triple Play Award Winner, and 2013 ACM Songwriter Of The Year Nominee. In addition to his chart topping singles, he co-wrote “Strong” for the 2014 National Chevy Silverado Advertising Campaign. A few recent singles are #1 singles include “Marry Me” by Thomas Rhett and “What Makes You Country” by Luke Bryan.  Gorley has written some of Country Music’s most memorable songs of the last 15 years including Brad Paisley’s #1 “Then” , Trace Adkins’ #1 “You’re Gonna Miss This”, Carrie Underwood’s #1 “All-American Girl” , Darius Rucker’s#1 “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” and the #1 Brad Paisley / Keith Urban duet “Start A Band”.

In 2011, Gorley formed Tape Room Music, a publishing company with a focus on artist development. Writers for Tape Room Music have already celebrated eleven #1 songs and eight top ten singles.

I have enjoyed knowing Ashley over the years and seeing him go from a songwriter we a few hits to being one of the top songwriter in Nashville. As his success has grown, he has always stayed humble. He has an awesome wife, Mandy, who has been his biggest cheerleader and supporter. He talks about how important she is to their family. If Ashley is working, you can find him coaching his kids sporting events or creating memorable experience with his family.
